FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Interfacial Solutions, the leading provider of idea-to-production contract R&D services to the plastics industry, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Cernohous will be presenting at the upcoming Durable Bioplastics Show. The conference will be held in Minneapolis, MN on April 25th and April 26th, and is the only meeting dedicated to durable bioplastics development.

CTO and Founder of Interfacial Solutions, Dr. Jeffrey Cernohous stated, “Interfacial Solutions recently saw an enormous amount of interest in our deTerra brands at ANTEC and NPE earlier this month and we are looking forward to continuing to share our developments at Durable Bioplastics show.”

deTerra Biobased Polymers have a biobased content ranging from 70-95% and are made from modified poly lactic acid (PLA), a renewable resource polymer made from natural feed stocks such as corn. Interfacial Solutions recently announced the launch of non-halogenated V0 and V2 flame retardant grades of deTerra for injection molding, profile and sheet extrusion applications to accompany the current non-halogenated E-84 flame retardant grade that is commercially available. For applications that do not require flame retardant properties, deTerra Biobased Polymer product line will soon offer high impact and optically clear grades. With their extremely high biobased content and good mechanical properties deTerra biobased plastics are well positioned to meet the durable applications specified by the recent presidential memorandum.

All deTerra grades are based on Interfacial Solutions’ patent pending and proprietary controlled molecular architecture modified PLA technologies and provide the resultant deTerra Biobased Polymers with a unique chemical structure and properties not found in standard PLAs. This process produces a controlled molecular architecture with end groups to minimize polymer chain cleavage and maximize molecular weight. The molecular architecture gives deTerra improved impact resistance, temperature resistance, melt strength and an ability to control the melt rheology. All of these features allow us to custom formulate deTerra grades to meet various customer requirements.
