FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, Interfacial Solutions, the leading provider of idea-to-production contract research and development services to the plastics industry, announces its purchase of a new 50mm ZSE MAXX twin-screw extruder from Leistritz. The state-of-the-art extruder will be on display at NPE 2012 in Orlando, FL, in Leistritz’s West Hall booth # 5975. Interfacial Solutions will be located in the Sustainability Pavilion at booth #62043.

The ZSE-50 MAXX twin screw represents state-of-the-art technology in high-torque, high-volume co-rotating twin-screw extruders. The OD/ID ratio significantly increases free volume with no reduction in torque density which in combination with new cooling technology enables increased throughput while the deeper flights yield a lower average shear rate and result in dramatically lower melt temperatures. All of these attributes are a great benefit for the processing of natural fiber reinforced composites.

CEO and Member of Interfacial Solutions, Dr. Gregg Bennett stated, “Interfacial Solutions’ business has grown rapidly as we have successfully enabled significant innovations with the contract R&D customers we support. We expect continued successes on behalf of our customers and are especially excited by opportunities in the natural fiber market. We know the capabilities of the various twin-screw extruders on the market well and are impressed by the performance of the Leistritz machines. We already own two other Leistritz extruders and have been very satisfied with the services Leistritz provides as they support our various innovation projects. The 50mm ZSE MAXX extruder complements our current capabilities and meets the future needs of our pioneering customers.”

Charlie Martin, President/General Manager, of Leistritz added “Last year Interfacial Solutions purchased a 50mm ZSE HP series extruder from us to enable their super critical CO2 R&D foaming needs and provide additional production capacity. We are very pleased that they have come to us once again as they continue to expand their leading edge capabilities. We look forward to showing Interfacial Solutions’ new Leistritz 50mm ZSE MAXX extruder at NPE 2012 and demonstrating other exciting new advances from Leistritz as well. We are excited and proud to continue our long-term relationship with IFS. The ZSE-50 MAXX technology being implemented matches the IFS business model based on cutting-edge compounding technologies that has enabled IFS to flourish.”
