River Falls, Wisconsin, June 16, 2009 – Interfacial Solutions, a materials development and transfer company, announces the new deTerra™ product line.

The deTerra™ PR144 product is a non-halogenated, flame retardant (FR) modified PLA polymer. The product exhibits excellent tensile strength and an exceptionally high flexural modulus value for an unreinforced polymer, while at the same time offering much improved impact strength over typical PLA based materials. The material showed excellent performance in flammability testing under UL test 723/ASTM E-84 with results indicating a Flame Spread Index (FSI) of < 25 and Smoke Developed Index (SDI) of < 450 resulting in a class 1/A rating.

The PR144 is a biobased alternative to FR and low smoke PVC and PVC alloys. It can be considered for sheet and other extrusion applications, as well as for injection molded components.
